The new academic year is coming up - which means that we are all thinking about how to achieve academic success in 2022. πππ
And the key to good grades is good planning. πππ
It may sound πboringπ and it may not be what you want to hear, but if you don't plan how, what and when you study it will be that much harder to achieve the grades that you are aiming for π€·π½ββοΈπ€·π½ββοΈπ€·π½ββοΈ. So without further ado, let's talk about how you can plan for academic success ππΏππΏππΏ
ποΈ Weekly Planning ποΈ
This is the best way to reduce stress throughout the year. Set up a weekly plan that includes all your school time, extra curricular activities and chores. πππ
Then schedule in time for homework, studying and resting around those other tasks.
This way, throughout each week of the year you will know β¨what you need to be doing whenβ¨ - and you will know that you have time set aside each week for everything you need to do. β°β°β°
Tools you can use: notes app on your phone, calendar app on your phone, google calendar, or literally just a pen and paper (and stick it on the wall - this has always been my personal favourite cause I can see the calendar every morning).
π Pro tip #1: make sure you give yourself more time for activity than you think you will need. You never know what might come up.π
π Pro tip #2: make sure you schedule catch up time each week. This is time allocated to things you didn't get to, like next week's homework or group projects etc.π
π The To Do and Must Do Lists π
Now that you know when you are going to be working on what, it's time to focus on the actual tasks you are going to be accomplishing. π€π€π€
I recommend that for every day you create a Must Do List. This is the list of things that you absolutely must do. This will probably include things like your homework that's due tomorrow and studying for any tests this week. πππ
And then create a To Do List. This is the list of things that you would like to do. This can include your homework for the day after tomorrow, and studying for tests next week.
β
It will obviously be ideal if you can finish everything on your Must Do AND your To Do lists - but you can know that you'll be fine even if you just get through the Must Do list. Which will help you reduce stress each day. ππ½ππ½ππ½
This is a really helpful way of β¨prioritising your daily tasksβ¨, and know what you need to do in the time you've scheduled on your weekly plan.
π Exam Plans π
Even if you absolutely hate them... exams are going to happen π€·π½ββοΈπ€·π½ββοΈπ€·π½ββοΈ. So it's best to be prepared. πͺπΎπͺπΎπͺπΎ
As soon as you have your syllabus for the year write up a list of all the topics that are going to be in your June and November Exams. Think about how long it will take you to study for each of them - and then work backwards so you know how early you really need to start studying. π€π€π€
There's absolutely no point in making exams more stressful than they need to be by studying at the last minuteπππ. So put a bit of work in now, work out when you need to start studying, and then β¨just do itβ¨. Really. Don't try make exams worse than they need to be.ππ½ππ½ππ½
Happy prepping and planning - hope this helps you have wonderful academic year! πππ
