π Doing past papers
The best way to do past papers is:
- Open the paper π
- Work through the questions in order π
- If you get stuck look at the memo ποΈ
- If you donβt understand the memo look at your textbook π
- Go back to 2 π
When you get stuck and look at the memo or textbook, you are learning more about a topic - which will help you understand the work. π§
And when you donβt get stuck you are practicing how to apply the work. βπΎ
So whether or not you can answer the question, you will always be fullfiling one of the goals of studying. πππΌ
Making notes without looking at the textbook
A lot of people completely waste their time making notes, because they just rewrite the textbook. π€¦πΏπ€¦πΏπ€¦πΏ
This doesnβt help them understand or apply the work. πΏπΏπΏ
The best way to make notes is:
- Read a section of the textbook π
- Close the textbook β
- Try and write down as much as you can remember βπ»
- Then look at the textbook and see what you left out π
This way you will quickly realise which sections you did not understand, and need to read over again. ππ
Once you can write everything in your own words you will know that you understand pretty much perfectly. π―
Teaching other people the work
If you want to truly test whether or not you understand something you can need to teach it to someone else. πππ
An easy way to do this is to plan a study session with some friends where each friend teaches one topic. π§πΎβπ«
If people ask you questions about your topic and you can answer them all AND help everyone understand, chances are you understand the work well. ππΏππΏππΏ
Hopefully these tips will help you study more effectively, and not waste any time on study methods that donβt actually help you perform well in tests and exam. π―
Sending hugs and strength. You got this. ππ€
