π πΎββοΈ Eliminate Test Anxiety π πΎββοΈ
A lot of test anxiety comes from uncertainty. You are worried because you have no idea whatβs going to happen in that test. πππ
And while you canβt ask for the exact questions that will be in the test, thereβs a lot of information you can ask for in advance. This includes:
- The Scope - what topics are going to be in the test? π
- The format - is the test going to be multiple choice, long answers, short answers, true or false, essays? π
- The length - how long is the test? How many sections? β°
Any teacher should be able to tell you this at least a week before you take the test. You β¨needβ¨ this information to make sure you are studying the right thing. ππΎππΎππΎ
So if your teacher is not providing it keep asking! π ****Then, once you know, make sure you study with the everything you know about the test in mind. π¨πΌβππ¨πΌβππ¨πΌβπ
Make sure you are practicing the right type of questions, only studying whatβs in the scope, and thinking about the information that your teacher focused on most in class for those sections.
π Use Past Papers π
If you have them, use past papers! β£οΈβ£οΈβ£οΈ
They will give you a great idea of the scope, format and length of your upcoming test. π€
But they will ALSO give you an idea of how the questions are asked. π»
This is important, because acing a test doesnβt just mean knowing all the content. π
It also means you need to know β¨how to use that contentβ¨ to answer questions. And past papers will help you practice that. β€οΈ
You can get past papers for high school (grade 10, 11 and 12) by sending a WhatsApp to this number +2760 070 3213 or clicking this link. πππ
π― The most marks in the least time!!π―
In a test, you have one goal: βget the most marks in the least timeβ**.**
This is how you do the best you possibly can in a test.
And this means that when you actually take the test you need to.ππ»ππ»ππ»
- Get all the easy marks first π―π―π―****So donβt do the questions in order. Skim through the paper and make sure you snap up all those easy marks ASAP. ππΎββοΈππΎββοΈππΎββοΈCircle the difficult questions you skip, and come back to them once youβve answered the easy ones. β
- Then attempt the hard questionsSpend 5-10 minutes on the each of the difficult questions.Have something written down for all of them so that you can get some process marks. πBut DO NOT spend half an hour trying to get one question right, and ignore all the others.
Why? π€ Because you absolutely do not want to spend half an hour on one question you could get wrong, instead of 10 minutes each on three slightly easier questions you could get right. ππ’3. Then, lastly, go back to the really hard questions
Once youβve answered all the easy questions, attempted (and hopefully answered) some of the more difficult questions, you can go back to the really hard questions. ππΎππΎππΎ
At this point, you know that you have gotten β¨as many marks as possibleβ¨ from the easier and less difficult questions. You are trying to up your mark on these hard questions - but are not sacrificing any easy marks. βπ½
If you get these questions right - great! But if you donβt, at least you know that you got all the easy marks upfront! βββ
Using these strategies before and during your test will help you get the best marks you can every time you take a test from now on! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
So get studying, FoondaMate is rooting for you! πͺπΎπͺπΎπͺπΎ
Sending hugs and strength. You got this. ππ€
