What to do when you fall behind on school work

We all fall behind on school work. Even the top students. It doesn't matter that you fell behind - what matters is that you catch up! ❤️❤️❤️ Unfortunately, this is where most people struggle. This is because catching up on work can feel overwhelming and impossible. 😐😐😐 So in this post we give you a straight to the point, simple solution to catch up when you've fallen behind on school work. 💛🤖🤩

It’s gotten to that point in the year were school work is piling up. 😟😟😟

In fact, it might be a bit overwhelming. 😰😰😰

And you might have fallen behind. 😬😬😬

If you are behind with work and need to catch up 💪🏾, these are the three steps to take 👇🏼

1. Don’t look back 👀

You’re behind, for whatever reason. It doesn’t matter what the reason is. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Don’t look back and wish you had done stuff differently. 🙅🏽‍♀️

You can’t go back in time, so there’s no point beating yourself up about it. ❤️❤️❤️

Instead, let’s find ways to solve the problem in the present and avoid it in the future. 🥇🏆⭐

So now that we’ve agreed we’re not going to beat ourselves up, it’s time to...

2. Work out what you need to catch up on 🤔🤔🤔

You can’t catch up if you don’t know what you need to catch up on. 👀

So start off by working out:

  1. How far behind you are 😅
  2. What content you missed 📚
  3. And how long it will take you to cover this content ⏰

Write down each topic that you missed and what you need to do to catch up. ✏️✏️✏️

An example of what your list could look like is:

English

Read chapter 1 and 2

Do poetry worksheet

Maths

Worksheets 4,5,6

Geography

Homework questions on topography

Read chapter on urban sprawl

Plan essay for urban sprawl

History

Do practice source based questions

Read chapter on black consciousness

Make notes on black consciousness

See how these are literally all the tasks you haven’t done, so you know exactly what you need to do. 🤩🤩🤩

Important❗: This will be useless if you write a list that says stuff like: study history, understand functions. 😕😕😕 You need to specify exactly what tasks you are going to complete to catch up. 📝

Once you know this, you can start to work out what you are actually going to do to catch up on work. 👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿

3. Schedule the tasks ⏰⏰⏰

If you are well and truly behind it’s going to take more than one day to catch up. 😕😕😕 So you will need to plan what you are going to catch up on when. 🗓️🗓️🗓️

Let’s say you make this list on a Wednesday, and you want to be caught up in a week.

  1. Start off by making a list of the days of the week, like this:

Wed

Thur

FriSat

Sun

Mon

Tue

  1. And then add the tasks from step 2 to each of those days, like this:

Wed - do poetry worksheet and maths worksheet 4

Thur - read chapter 1 and do maths worksheet 5

Fri - read chapter 2 and do maths worksheet 6 (now you’re caught up on maths and English!)

Sat - read chapter on urban sprawl and plan essay for urban sprawl

Sun - read chapter on black consciousness and make notes on black consciousness (notice how these tasks, which are probably going to take a long time were put on the weekend?)

Mon - homework questions on topography

Tue - source based practice questions

Now, this might not be the most fun week of your life. 😐😐😐

But, by next week Wednesday you won’t be behind anymore! 🎉 And that will feel amazing! 🎉

So if you have started falling behind, and want to get back on track, follow these three steps and say goodbye to stress. ❤️❤️❤️

Sending hugs and strength. You got this. 💛🤖
